The idea for this video was inspired from a post by Matthew Good written last week titled Photographs:

“Why, you ask, do I believe the photograph to be of such importance? Because, in the century ahead, photographs, along with film, will be all that will remain of many of this world’s inhabitants.”

While we’re on the subject…

Recently I read an article: Anti-Feminist Backlash Out in Full Force, and I came across a few sentences that angered me…

“… Oklahoma has just passed a law requiring not only that women seeking abortions be forced to view sonograms of their fetuses but that the picture be taken in the way most likely to reveal the clearest picture–often up their vaginas.”

Reading this made me think of murderers being forced to look at pictures of their victims. It disgusts me that they would even come up with an idea like this, especially when there are many women who have abortions because it is their only option. However a fetus is a fetus but the mentality and reasoning behind an idea like this is sickening. Why are we treating these women like murderers?

The women’s movement has come great distances; climbed high slopes, why is everything starting to roll backwards? The ‘choice’ should always be there for women; the choice to do what we will with our own bodies.

If you are against abortions DON’T HAVE ONE… and stay the fuck out of other people’s business!

D.I.Y.: Political Shirts

I’ve always enjoyed wearing shirts that carried a message about something that is important to me and essentially relating to an important issue in the world. A few example of the slogans on some of my shirts are: Herbivore, All My Heroes Have FBI Files, Capitalism Must Die.. etc.

Recently a couple friend of mine decided to make their own shirts and plaster them in political messages and images, of course I thought this was a brilliant idea and for the past couple of day all I’ve been doing is making my own t’s.

I find that in this day n’ age it’s not always easy to express your verbally; people always seem to be avoiding conversation, especially when it comes to topics that could potentially be touchy. However; wearing shirts with political messages makes it hard for those trying to avoid these topics to do so, because the thing about wearing your message is it’s a kind of an ‘in your face’ activism that people don’t always have the chance to walk by. Once they read your shirt your dead has been done!

Another proud member of the ‘Culture Of Death’

So I’ve finally stopped laughing hard enough to write this post… While checking my blog stats earlier I noticed that I had been linked to on a recent post at Bread and Roses; the post was entitled Proud Member of the Culture of Death. In this article the author April Reign presents us with a letter from man named Micheal who has made a list of bloggers who have recently posted about The Pill Kills campaign (you can read my article here) Apparently those who disagree with their ideas and who find the campaign utterly ridiculous are considered part of Culture of Death bloggers.

The Pill Kills?

This June 7th marks the 43rd anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to grant women (while actually married couples) the right to privacy when it came to sexual practices; obtaining birth control became a personal and private issue. This was an important step towards woman gaining control of their own bodies; woman making decisions for their own.

However, apparently for some individuals this isn’t an anniversary worth celebrating. A group of people have come together to name June 7th Protest the Pill Day, naming their campaign The Pill Kills because according to them the pill causes chemical abortions:

500 migratory birds die; the reason? Humans.

In Alberta, Syncrude (the world’ largest producer of crude oil) are developing oils sands. During the development of these oil sands ‘tailing ponds’ (which are really just pools of toxic waste) are created. On Monday April 28th a flock of 500 migratory ducks landed on one of these ‘ponds’; only a few dozen made it out alive and the rest of the bodies sank to the bottom.

Which species need the birth control more?

I read an article in my local paper today that was so utterly ridiculous that I almost pissed my pants. In Whistler, apparently there has been some toying with the idea of putting a wild black bear, identified as Jeanie, on birth control.

Ummmmmmmm….

It seems that when Mrs. Jeanie has cubs she wanders out of the niggling shrubs she now calls home to forage for more food. This isn’t good, because it brings Jean Jean closer to humans. Being a species with claws and teeth she could potentially be a threat to humans, which is why they would ‘have’ to destroy her. Or she may end up coming to close to some man-made design like highways and end up being splattered over some semi’s windshield. But of course those compassionate individuals who care so much for animals and the natural world don’t want this to happen, so first they mask up the root cause *cough humans cough* and then fuck with nature by putting her on birth control! Brilliant!

I’ve decided to walk…

Like an asteroid

it hit me

in everything I was told to be.

If there is one thing we can always count on in this life it is change; but through the change we often hop on the wrong train and find ourselves forever headed in the wrong direction. This train never slows down, and it never stops; we get so carried away in the way things are that we never have time to pause and realize everything is all wrong.

For some the train may hit something lying in the middle of its path, flying us off the tracks. Leaving us disorientated for a minute; perhaps thinking we’ve gone a little crazy when we come to the realization that we’ve been living a life that isn’t ours; we are not who we’re supposed to be. But for most their tracks stay forever clean, and they never get a chance like this; and still for the majority who do, they just hop right back on the train and ride it until the end.

Not me…

… Through the undisturbed grass which lies beside the tracks I’ve decided to walk.
